Have you ever looked at your overflowing closet and thought about all the items you DIDN’T have and at the same time thought on how you had nothing to wear? Umm…hello. The finger is pointing to me. I am guilty of this.
For the last several weekends, I’ve been working on what seems to be a never ending project to clean out my closet {adult style}. This has been a constant struggle for me in the past. In order to not lose my mind in the process, I have stuck with a few key principals to identify on what to clear out, and what items I may need.
The best outfits are a combination of staple and statement with trend-driven pieces.
So if your closet lacks variety and you don’t have options for both categories, you’re always going to feel unsatisfied with your wardrobe.
1. Quality
There are plenty of advantages of having a wardrobe of quality rather than quantity. Essentially this means that you buy less often, of better quality and with more intention.
2. Variety
Opt for a mix of classic pieces with trend-driven updates.
3. Form & Function
Your clothes should be both practical (easy to move in, comfortable) and beautiful.
4. Versatility
Stock your closet with pieces that can work for multiple occasions, outfits and seasons.
5. Personality
Your clothes should be a reflection of your personal style.
I hope these guidelines will help you the next time you’re out there shopping.
Do you have any tips? I would love to hear about them.
