It’s the latest health drink offering a plethora of supposed benefits, but is it legit? Let’s girl talk it out.
Forget the Pantone Color of the Year– celery juice is the resolution of the year! But why?
Celery juice isn’t a new trend- but it is having a moment thanks to social media. Celery has anti-inflammatory properties, and so many detox smoothies or juices on Pinterest include celery as an ingredient. Head to your favorite juice shop and you’ll probably see a celery juice as an ingredient.
But how did it blow up? The celery “movement” started with Anthony William, “the Medical Medium,” who has three New York Times bestselling books on natural food cures under his belt. (Celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomi Campbell are all fans.) An important side note: William has no medical license or nutrition certifications (his website has a disclaimer about this). But he’s gained a huge (1.6m Instagram Followers) following for his holistic approach and the belief that he has the ability to “read” people’s medical diagnoses and provide guidance on how to recover (hence the name Medical Medium).
William mentions drinking celery juice in all of his books and is a huge advocate of drinking 16 ounces of the “miracle superfood” first thing in the morning for its “potent healing properties” and “incredible ability to create sweeping improvements for all kinds of health issues”—including improving gut health, fighting cancer, clearing skin, flushing out viruses, and more.
Juicing isn’t a new thing to me. Growing up my grandma and mom were advocate juicers. My mom often tells the story of my grandma coming to the rescue when she had the flu and was too ill to tend to me. Fast forward to the present….now that my mom has been living with cancer, juicing is something she does almost everyday and I have to say, it does have incredible health benefits.
I want to go ahead and step in now and say, I’m not a doctor, nor am I recommending you try this celery juice and throw out your medications. I’m just sharing my thoughts about this topic.
So in doing my own research and with my mom speaking so highly of this juice, I too have taken the plunge and have started drinking celery juice. It’s not a bad habit to start. Green juice in the morning is a great way to start your day and the best part of healthy habits is that one leads to another. It’s only been a few days; however, I can honestly say I have a bit more pep in my step.
Just a few of celery juice benefits:
Celery juice fights inflammation
Celery juice heals the gut
Celery juice neutralizes acidity
Celery juice helps with energy
Celery juice is good for your skin
From purifying the bloodstream to reducing bloat to strengthening our bones and lowering blood pressure {it is high in Vitamin K!}, there are so many more reasons this veggie is powerful.
Thank you for bearing with me on my little health chat! As I said, I’m not sharing this post in an attempt to give medical advice, but rather share my experience in a health trend this year. Overall, I hope this just encourages you to try a little more green into your diet and see how you like the results!
